How It Works

Cryo body contouring utilizes the process of cryolipolysis, which is a procedure that works by destroying subcutaneous fat that is sensitive to temperature below freezing. Fat cells disappear gradually through a process of inflammation, starting within a few days after the procedure and continuing in the months after. 

The treatment process involves a fatty area of the body being sucked into a suction cup-type device and cooled. The exposure to cooling causes the apoptosis (cell death) of subcutaneous fat tissue, without any apparent damage to the overlaying skin, for the non-invasive, localized reduction of fat deposits, in order to reshape the contours of the body.

The fat-freezing procedure actually reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas by about 20% to 25% and up to 38% overtime. These fat cells are naturally processed and eliminated, so they won't migrate to another area of your body, and unlike with other procedures, theres no change to fat cells in untreated areas.

What is the first step to getting treatment?

The first step in the treatment process is an assessment. The doctor will perform a thorough assessment on the patient, identifying the areas of major concern. During the assessment, other areas that may be impacting an individuals shape or figure may be identified.

What Does the Cryolipolysis?

After your treatment area(s) are properly marked, and the skin in the area is prepared , the cryolipolysis treat is ready to begin. First, a protective gel is applied to the treatment area. Then, the machine is applied to the skin and allowed to run for as little as 45-60 minutes. During this process, the patient is made as comfortable as possible. 

During the first 3 minutes, the patient often feels a cold sensation. During minutes 3-5, the patient may feel a slight cold tingling sensation - like if you were to stick your hand in ice. After this stage, the area will be numb for the rest of the procedure, and for some minutes after treatment. The actual treatment process is fast and easy.

How long does it take to see results?

Many patients may begin to see results in about 3 weeks, but the full result is usually seen about 3 months after treatment. Cyrolipolysis results are seen over a period of a few months because the process of cell death is not instantaneous. Fat cell death happens over time - but once the fat cells are destroyed, they won't return.

What is the duration between treatments?

If you are considering a second treatment on the same body part to improve the results of your first, it is a good idea to wait as long as possible between sessions, usually at least a full 16 weeks.
